Learning is a journey that starts ‘from the cradle to the grave’ and the teachers need to learn and re-learn while nurturing the young minds. It is essential that the thoughts and values of the teachers are aligned with that of the vision of the schools. Global Indian International School understands the fundamental need of mentoring and guiding the teachers through workshops and sessions to motivate them and bring out the best in them.

Padma Bhushan, Dr. Justice C.S. Dharmadhikari, President of Global Schools Foundation visited GIIS Noida and held an open forum with the teachers. He spoke on relevance of education in today’s world and how the teachers need to build their characters in order to shoulder the responsibility of shaping tomorrow’s generation. He explained that the teachers should be parent figures for their students and hold each one in equal measures. He further explained that a mother doesn’t divide her love for her children in percentages, for her every child is 100%. Similarly, a teacher must devote 100% attention to each student. He also asked the teachers for dedication and commitment towards the school in order to make the school a model school in Noida.

He spoke of the importance of Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Universal Values as a means to inculcate values and self-discipline. He quoted Mahatma Gandhi on music in education, ‘if you want to make any subject compulsory, choose music.’ Gandhiji’s philosophy of Community Singing helps in developing rhythm and coordination among children and a collective expression of emotions. He urged the teachers to choose songs in different languages and from different parts of India that all the students and teachers can sing together. This would be a harmonious approach towards community feeling.

The teachers were moved by his conviction and at the end of the session they felt enriched.
